在前卫金属界名声响当当的Symphony X，于1994年4月在美国新泽西成军。吉他手Michael Romeo那张备受好评的自制个人样带《The Dark Chapter》是促成乐队诞生的先决。最初的乐队成员包括，贝司手 Thomas Miller，主音Rod Tyler、鼓手Jason Rullo和Michael Pinnella。

他们的首张同名专辑发行不久后，即引起了前卫金属圈的巨大反响，8个月后，他们又发行了第二张专辑《The Damnation Game》，而《The Divine Wings Of Tragedy》（97年）是让他们知名度提升了一个台阶的成功专辑，四面八方的好评不断，专辑也被看作了当年前卫金属圈的首选佳作。

转眼即将十年，里面的几首经典仍被人们乐乐津道，嗯，今天就来回顾一下专辑的末曲《Candlelight Fantasia》。精彩的交响乐元素，丰富的层次感，华丽的编曲，娴熟的谱曲技巧，高水准的演奏及男主唱丰沛的情绪变化、多变的唱腔（此时的主唱已变成了Russell Allen）都是此歌值得一听的地方。
